The Indian IT services industry body vice-president Ameet Nivsarkar who has visited in Melbourne to attend CeBIT Australia 2012, a mega business event, told reporters, “Indian industry has added significantly to the US competitiveness and have been good citizens, contributing to social security, local taxes, creating local employment, and contributing to the community”.

India’s second-largest outsourcing firm, Infosys, has alleged irregularities in violation of visa norms in U.S. recent investigation, in which US Department found ’significant percentage’ of errors in the company’s verifications of US work visa applications.

He also said that Nasscom is working with the governments, administration, policy makers to find ways that can help mitigate the impact upon the IT industry of visa restrictions, often based on flawed logic.”

In West where lots of sensitive issues regarding uniforms and wearing religious items such as turbans by Sikh police officers have raised, now on Wednesday permit Sikh officers to wear beards, turbans and other religious items while on the job.

Being announced the new policy change, the Washington DC police becomes the first major metropolitan police department in the American capital to allow Sikhs to maintain their articles of faith such as steel bracelets around their wrists and small decorative swords under their clothes.

Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier who announced this change said that law enforcement works better when members of the public see themselves mirrored in their local police department.

She further added, “To me this is a common-sense decision. It is important that we have representation from all of our communities across Washington, D.C.”

According to the policy change, being developed with the Sikh American Legal Defence and Education Fund (SALDEF), Sikh officers can wear turbans that are the same colour as the uniform, with the department badge that is normally on hats pinned to the front of the turban.

By this policy, a Sikh who will graduate from the police academy in August and plans to become a reserve officer has requested the accommodation. The department has also made accommodations for incarcerated people who wear religious head coverings, Lanier said in her statement.

Arsala Rahmani, close adviser to President Hamid Karzai is the second senior Afghan official to be killed since in September, when former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani, was killed by a purported Taliban suicide bomber posing as a peace envoy.

Mr. Rahmani was hit by a single bullet from a passing car just outside his home in Western Kabul while he was leaving home for meeting.

Talking to media, his grandson, Mohammed Wariss said, shortly as he left his home Sunday in a SUV with his driver and another relative, a Toyota Corolla came alongside their vehicle, shot him by “the bullet passed through his left arm and hit his heart.” And he died in the hospital.

Taking the responsibility over Rahmani’s assassination for attack, Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman said, “We deny responsibility, but we are targeting HPC members” as part of posing against the U.S. and the Afghan government.
