Polling starts in Punjab and Uttarakhand

Polling has begun in Punjab and Uttarakhand from 8 am with a tight security of around 70972 police force including 225 paramilitary forces have been deployed to have peaceful polling.

The main competition is between Chief Ministerial Parkash Singh Badal from Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance and Amarinder Singh of opposition Congress.

From Punjab, the highest numbers of candidates are in Jalalabad, Ludhiana-east and Patiala rural seats. Badal’s son Sukhbir Singh Badal who is currently the Deputy Chief Minister and President of the Akali Dal is also in the battle of election and contesting from Jalalabad. And Manpreet Singh Badal who is contesting on a People’s Party of Punjab ticket from Gidderbaha constituency after quitted the Akali Dal. Read more

Congress, Akalis ends Poll Campaigns in Lambi

While addressing the rally in Lambi by the former BJP chief, Rajnath Singh, the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is main point of it to get the support of rally by reminding them the political life of Prakash Singh Badal who is the main person that has made development of Lambi and always stand with the people of Punjab what ever the situation is.

Mr. Sukhbir Singh also addressed the crowd and told in favors of Mr. Badal who would go down in history and created tailor-made policies according to the requirements of the masses.

But on opposite side the State unit president Amarinder Singh whose chances of winning are more gave a warm welcome to the people and thanked to the supporters through them the party was tipped to win over 75 seats. Read more

Punjab Polls: Malwinder Singh joins Akali Dal

punjab polls 274x300 Punjab Polls: Malwinder Singh joins Akali DalA strong attack has made over the Punjab polls to Congress as harassment, while Malwinder Singh, younger brother of the party’s state unit chief Captain Amarinder Singh, quit the outfit.

On Saturday after being denied a ticket in favour of Amarinder’s son Raninder, Malvinder, 67, joined archrival Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

In fact, like his brother Amarinder, Malvinder is an Army Captain. Before joining Congress in 1977, he served the forces for 12 years.

However Malwinder has never fought an election. He has taken a decision as like former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Badal who had rebelled against his uncle, Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal and left the party to float his own outfit for one and a half ago.

A source reported that Sukhbir Badal , SAD president represented Malwinder virtually as a trophy for him while he entered into SAD yesterday. Read more
