According to latest news, around 112 people were killed in a fire incident at a multi-story garment factory just outside of Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka.
Reports have said that people and fire fighters were trying hard to get control on the garment factor fire in Savar, 30 kilometres north of Dhaka.
Fire broke out in the factor at the 7-story factor working under Tazreen Fashions late Saturday. By Sunday morning, fire fighters recovered 100 dead bodies, as said to media by fire department Operations Director Maj. Mohammad Mahbub.
He further said that 12 people who suffered injuries after jumped from the building also died in the hospital.
According to him, the death toll may increase.
He said, “Army soldiers and border guards had been deployed to help police keep the situation under control as thousands of anxious relatives of the factory workers gathered at the scene.”
He said that there is no information about how many people are missing.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh ash around 4000 garment factories and many of there are without safety measures. Bangladesh earns $20 billion from exports of garment products, mainly to the United States and Europe.
