Your voice has been heard: Sonia Gandhi to protesters

The Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday expressed her grief on the death of the 23-years-old girl and said that the accused would get fitting punishment.

Sonia Gandhi however, appealed the protesters to maintain the peace and said that central government had heard their voice and girl would get justice.

Following the death of Delhi Gang Rape victim in Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday morning at around 2:15 am, Sonia Gandhi said, “I want to assure you that your voice has been heard.”

Sonia Gandhi was looking emotionally charged with tears in her eyes, she said, “Today we pledge that she will get justice that her fight will not have been in vain to all of you who have stood vigil, who have expressed their anger and anguish publicly, who have poured out in her support. I want to assure you that your voice has been heard.”

Further, Sonia Ganhid said that she knows that people of the country have taken this matter into streets and she is also worried about the growing crimes as well as violence against women. Sonia said, “As a woman, a mother I understand how you feel.”

Sonia added, “I appeal to you to remain calm and help strengthen our collective resolve to fight menace of violence against women”

She said, “Her unbounded courage and her indomitable spirit will never die and will never be forgotten. It strengthens our resolve to fight with all our might and all the powers of all our laws and our administration for the safety, protection of all women of the country and to ensure swift and fitting punishment for the perpetrators of such brutal acts.”
