According to latest reports, an unknown hacker group has announced online the detail of 450,000 user accounts and passwords it claims to have hacked from a Yahoo server.
Further, the news website called ‘Ars Technica technology’ states that the hacker group named as ‘D33DS Company’ has hacked into an unidentified sub-domain of Yahoo’s website and they recovered the accounts details of users.
However, Yahoo officials were not present to give any clarification on this news from Singapore.
Meanwhile, the affected accounts now belong to a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service called Yahoo Voices, which operates on Yahoo’s instant messenger.
The Voices service is operated by Jajah, which is basically a VoIP service that was bought by Telefonica Europe BV in 2010.
The hackers’ website ‘d33ds.co’ was registered in February this year was not available from Thursday onwards, the original claims of hacked accounts were made on this website.
On the other hand, industry website CNET said, “The hackers as saying the breach was intended as a “wake-up call and not as a threat” and that Yahoo’s security was lax.”
The Voices hack is the latest in the past few months. Earlier, business networking service LinkedIn also claimed that around 6.4 million members passwords had been hacked from its website.
