Jaswant Vs Hamid, a direct competition has occurred for the Vice President polling. Hamid Ansari is a UPA candidate ready to start a second term as Vice President, while BJP leader Jaswant Singh comes in battle on behalf of NDA.
For VP poll total of 31 candidates had filled 42 papers to be contest in the 14-day nomination process, and out of which 29’s nomination papers were rejected.
14th Vice President Polls began at 10 am in the Parliament House on Tuesday in which around 788 MPS from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are being vote to elect their favorable Vice President candidate. The voting will continue till 5 pm evening, then the result of winner’s fate will out.
With a huge number of MPs seats in both houses, this time UPA led Congress is more assured and seem a strongest party which may go with result in hands as Ansari set to win. A total of 275 MPS – 204 members in Lok Sabha and 71 in Rajya Sabha- has under the UPA, while its allies Trinamool Congress has sum of 28 MPs; the DMK has 25, while NCP has just 16.
Among the eager voter who want to cast their votes, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are the high dignitaries who votes for 75-year-old Ansari.
The entire Left in Houses of Parliament, Samajwadi Party and BSP also in support to Ansari, adding his votes in a contest and being secure his place.
On otherside, strongest BJP contestant Singh has several favorable votes that make chances of his win a little high. A total of 163 BJP members in parliament Houses; 29 of JD(U) and 15 of Shiv Sena are set to go with Singh. Moreover, Shiromani Akali Dal and AIADMK also announced to back Singh’s candidature, while BJD denied casting their votes, report said.
BJP, whose candidature is weakening in front of Ansari, is trying to make each effort to increase and get in its favour of higher votes, so that it can go ahead from UPA and thrashed Ansari’s chances to win.
