The freshly report, President Asif Ali Zardari announced $1 million donation for the upkeep of the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, Dargah Sharif in Ajmer on Sunday.
The shrine of a revered Muslim Sufi saint is situated in western India.
Source said that after taking lunch with Premier Manmohan Singh, Zardari along with his son Bilawal Bhutto amid tight security arrangements stepped forward to visit in Ajmer.
On request of Opposition Sushma Swaraj, Mr. Singh told Zardari to pray for peace by normalization relations between the two neighbors at the Sufi shrine.
Interestingly, Zardari and his son with 40 delegations agreed to do same. He wrote in the visitors’ book, “I’ve been overwhelmed by a spiritual joy after visiting the shrine – a joy that I don’t have words to describe.”
“I pray here to Allah Almighty for the whole humanity,” he further added.
“Towards the end of lunch, Prime Minister told president Zardari that since he was going to Ajmer sharief, he should pray before Khwaja sahib for peace in both our countries… president Zardari promised to do that,” Swaraj tweeted in microblogging site Twitter.
Zardari’s pray in Ajmer was set with security of 3,000 policemen around the shrine. All the shops out side the shrine were allowed to shut down and residents to keep their windows shut while Zardari was in Ajmer.
