According to latest political news, the Election Commission of India on Friday has released the dates for Assembly elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
Speaking with media in a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath said that polling in the states will occur in two phases – first phase in Tripura (Feb 14), second phase in Meghalaya and Nagaland (Feb 23).
He told media that the counting of votes will be held in all three states simultaneously on Feb 28.
Tripura:
Date of notification: Jan 21
Last day for filing of nomination: Jan 28
Scrutiny of paper: Jan 29
Last day of withdrawal of nomination: Jan 31
Poll date: Feb 14
Date of counting: Feb 28
Meghalaya and Nagaland:
Date of notification: Jan 30
Last day for filing of nomination: Feb 06
Scrutiny of paper: Feb 07
Last day of withdrawal of nomination: Feb 09
Poll date: Feb 23
Date of counting: Feb 28
By-polls: By-polls in vacant seats in Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra will be held on Feb 24.
