A stunning 183 runs knock from Virat Kohli has helped India to beat Pakistan in a high voltage match at Mirpur in Asia Cup 2012.
Virat Kohli is now considered as the bright future of Indian Cricket team. His superb 183 runs in yesterday’s match and 133 runs against Sri Lanka at Hobart are his best knows.
Talking to media, Kohli said, “I put both on par, but yes, today was also special considering the nature of the game.”
He was also adjusted as the Man-of-the-Match for his fire work at Mirpur. It was the highest achieved target by India. During his stay at the center, Kohli faced 148 balls hitting 22 fours and one six.
Kohli said, “I went in after Gambhir was dismissed and the idea was to get to 130, 140 without losing a wicket. We had to get as close as we can. It’s a privilege to bat with Sachin Tendulkar and I have always been a big fan of Rohit Sharma. When he plays those long innings, he makes batting look easy.”
Though, Pakistan has lost the match against India yesterday, but they are already in the finals of the Asia Cup. India will face Pakistan once again the finals if Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh in the coming match.
Virat Kohli said, “There have been matches when I have got out in the 42nd over and I did not want to repeat those mistakes. After becoming number three, I value my wicket much more and I know that if I stay at the wicket, the runs will come.”
When asked to Kohli that whether he was looking to score 200 runs, he said, “Just once it crossed my mind and I thought this can’t be real and I focussed on the game and reacted to the deliveries.”
In the presentation event, Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq said, “It was one of the best innings I have ever seen and it was difficult to control him. You got to give credit to the way he batted. We always knew that the Indian batsman are strong and very fluent.”
