2014 Polls: Congress pitches Rahul as PM candidate against Narendra Modi

Rahul Gandhi has to be declared as the Prime Ministerial Candidate for the 2014 General Elections, Congress party leaders demanded from Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi addressed Congress brainstorming conclave on Friday in Jaipur at the ‘Chintan Shivir’ and demand of Rahul as next PM seemed to trigger a big threat for BJP.

Reports are that after Congress demand of declaring Rahul as PM, BJP leader claimed to enter Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the 2014 polls against Rahul.

BJP is likely to make its announcement in February, coinciding with Nitin Gadkari’s appointment as the BJP chief for a second term.

Meanwhile, if both parties are to be stand at their point, 2014 would be much interesting political year.

Congress conclave addressed by Sonia was attended by over 150 members of the Youth Congress and NSUI delegates who were invited at the instance of Rahul Gandhi, reports said.

In this grand party meeting, major issues are of alliance conflicts, decision of diesel price decontrol and an early decision on Telangana.

Sonia Gandhi also favoured women empowerment which sought approval of the long-pending women reservation bill that will provide 33 percent reservation in Parliament and assemblies.

“Mothers should teach their boys how to respect women in their family and in the neighbourhood. Women empowerment should start from home,” she said with a strong pitch for starting women empowerment from home.
