Maharshtra Dupty CM Ajit Pawar 150x150 Ajit Pawar quits, Congress NCP rift as political crisis Maharashtra government came in crisis when State Deputy CM and NCP party leader Ajit Pawar submitted his resignation following allegations of irregularities in mega irrigation projects.

Top NCP brass supported Ajit’s decision, resigned with strong support to him and his statement that there was no hurdle or misled to state govt. it runs in Congress-NCP coalition. A big tensed situation rose while around 15 NCP minister resigned to express solidarity with Ajit after a meet discussion of future course of action at Ajit Pawar’s residence.

Hitting a political crisis, Ajit who also resigned from the post of Finance and Planning and Power Minister by submitting resignation to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, would remain leader of the NCP Legislature party. Highlighting the difference with Ajit, NCP chief Sharad Pawar allowed him to quit the post.

“I have received the letter of resignation from Ajit Pawar. After discussing this issue with senior party leaders from both sides, I will take further action on it,” Prithviraj Chavan confirmed media.

Allegations are that Ajit had approved irregularities in clearing irrigation projects costing Rs 20,000 crore when he was Water Resources Minister during 1999-2009 without clearance of governing council of Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation.

Dismissing all allegations, Ajit said, “I do not want to be there to face allegations that I am influencing the White Paper ..I am clean and will go back to the people to seek a fresh mandate.”

Meanwhile, Ajit who was ready to face CBI probe in clearing scam, could not felt calm with continuing his post until allegations are not dropped.
