The Samajwadi Party’s (SP) approach towards revitalizing the Uttar Pradesh state by bringing enough industries has been considered as deception with hierarchy in the party causing hindrances in the working of the established companies which have been contributing their part in the direction of renovating the state in terms of cleanliness, employment, health and eventually poverty.
An instance is of the internationally acclaimed solid waste management firm A2Z which likely has planned to wind up their work in the state following the deficient cooperation from the state government.
Winding up of A2Z will leave behind 3000 families starving. Before putting down their shutters, the company, as their last efforts to save themselves, has knocked the door of the Allahabad High Court seeking legal favor. The problems A2Z are facing in the state are an outcome of the working standard of Urban Development Minister Azam Khan.
Azam Khan’s self gladdened style of working and strange approach towards the development in the state and Akhilesh Yadav’s act of benevolence on this minister has resulted in worsening position of Uttar Pradesh on national map. Much to the apathy, UP Chief Minister has dubiously claimed that the state is witnessing the atmosphere for development in the state while the facts and figures and several other media reports are averse to the suggestions and highlighted the poor state of development in the state.
A2Z has commenced their working from Kanpur, which was considered as one of the most unclean cities of India, has shown great results with their skilled working standards. Central government had kept the hawk’s eyes on the working of solid waste management firm. The untainted operations of A2Z resulted into bagging the cleaning contracts from 16 other states across India. Not only in India, but A2Z has also been conferred with the title of ‘most successful waste management company’ across Asia.
Azam Khan has been noticed developing some uneasiness with good works of A2Z. The company came under wrath of the minister even after delivering great results across the nation.
The company is being snubbed and cornered by the minister on some pretexts. It is hampering the work of the company in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A2Z ongoing solid waste management project is greatly affected with the move.
As per A2Z officials, the Urban Development minister has stopped all the payments to the Nagar Nigams which eventually left A2Z into financial crisis. Officials further said that pact signed between company and government was only constraint to solid waste management but after two years of signing of the contract, company, with its new technology, have started generating power through the dumped waste.
However, the directions came from Azam Khan for stopping the payment of A2Z was stated that only those solid waste management projects would be paid who possibly will generate the power.
According to the company records A2Z is generating power since January 2012.
Company has not even received the amount which was mentioned in the signed contract in between A2Z and the municipal corporations. Non clearance of dues forced the company to stop the salaries of their employees and other routine operational expenses.
Kanpur once known as ‘Manchester’ had fallen to disgrace after this city fall prey to the hundred thousand tonnes of waste released by the tanneries. Kanpur soon turned into a city of garbage. Municipal Corporation and UP government’s effort in this direction proved to be a flop show. And the city set the records in terms of bedding into garbage. However, in the last four years green energy plants have contributed a lot in dealing with this problem and have shown great results with the entry of solid waste management company A2Z.
After all these public work and earning laurels from all quarters and accolades how come the company of such repute has suddenly become ‘forge’ in the eyes of Azam Khan. Sources say that A2Z has been affected the most due to the political conflict between SP and BSP party. As the company got the contract at the time of Mayawati’s regime, SP minister is finding it hard to digest the company’s good working.
Kanpur which has been facing the problem of solid waste since decades has heaved a sigh of relief after projects of waste management started and A2Z emerged as a forerunner. In 2010, the company was awarded by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for its good work and it was the work of the company that Kanpur is being counted among the 20 cleanest cities across the countries.
When, there is so much been achieved by the company why the company is being targeted by Azam Khan. The company has been appreciated worldwide but to the apathy failed to impress the minister who has been controversial over several issues.
Pardaphash has been following the news of A2Z with full might and has also taken into account the turn of events in the state politics, and corruption without malice and prejudice.
