BJP selects Nitin Gadkari as its President again
The biggest opposition party, BJP has sanctioned an amendment at its national council on Friday to the party’s constitution to allow Nitin Gadkari as its President for the second consecutive time.
The amendment to Section 21 of BJP’s constitution state that any eligible member of the party can hold the President post for two times.
At the same time, the former BJP chief Venkaiah Naidu added that this doesn’t mean that the term of any president exceeds automatically for a second term. Mr. Naidu had moved the amendment.
Talking to media, Venkaiah Naidu said that this was only an enabling provision.
Meanwhile, the amendment was brought into action during BJP party’s national executive meeting in Mumbai in May 2012 and the it was approved by the national council.

As per the new amendment, the present president of BJP party, Nitin Gadkari’s role as present would be extended which otherwise ends in December this year.
