Dimple Yadav files nomination for Kannauj Lok Sabha bypoll

Crowned as the UP chief minister, Akhilesh Yadav is now seeking to put stand of his wife Dimple Yadav who today filed nomination papers as the Samajwadi Party candidate for the seat in the Kannauj Lok Sabha byelection.

Early morning, Dimple addressed a rally at Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh with her husband and it seemed just like any politician campaign for contesting. Being attached with rally, she said, “I want to thank all of you…for many of you, I am ‘Bhabhi’ (sister-in-law).”

According to report, Kannauj is considered a safer seat for the Yadav ‘bahu’, because Akhilesh 39 had three times represented Kannauj constituency represented until he performed well in the recent state elections in March.

Lok Sabha byelection will be scheduled for June 24 and there is full support seem to be held from Congress to Yadav “Bahu” by not to filed its candidate against Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav.

“The party did not field a candidate from Kannauj in the 2009 Lok Sabha election. So, we are not fielding our nominee in the byelection too,” Congress Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna Joshi told reporters while describing party move in by election.

Even it refused to file any nomination against head of the Samajwadi Party, Mulayam Singh, in the Lok Sabha election for Mainpuri. It has been said that reason behind this huge support is expected to make entry of Mulayam Singh in Congress led UPA government to boost strength of the party.

While reporters asked about supporting Dimple, her husband Akhilesh Yadav said, “I cannot campaign for my wife so I appeal to the people of Kannauj to make Dimple win…last time she did not fare well, so this time I hope she will win.”

Reports suggested, in 2009 Lok Sabha by-election, Akhilesh won two Lok Sabha seats – Kannauj and Firozabad, but had gone with Kannauj to represent in Parliament and latter was field by her wife.

Congress had handled nomination for bollywood star Raj Babbar to contest against Dimple at that time and won the by-poll. It was only possible because of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi who had campaigned against Dimple and finalized a focused effort to ensure her defeat.
