Must be good news for those who loves sending bulk SMSes and MMSes to their loved ones, as the Government has today announced to lift the ban on bulk SMSes and MMSes.

The ban on bulk SMSes and MMSes were imposed by the central government after the nationwide rumours of attack on the northeast people and the govt ordered telecom sector to ban bulk SMS in the country.

While talking to media, Home Ministry spokesperson K S Dhatwalia said, “The restrictions on SMSes and MMSes has been removed.”

Further, the government has also issued a notification about the ban removal.

It started after the hate messages spread among people about the Assam riots between the killings of Muslims and Boda community. SMS rumours were spread in cities like Bangalore and Pune.

Earlier, Govt restricted the number of SMSes to 5 per day, but later it was extended to 20 per day.
