Earlier, the home ministry had announced to ban bulk SMS service in the country on August 17 after the violation made by some people to spread hate SMS which creates panic in people from Northeast regions.
Further, the ministry has ordered the Department of Telecommunications [DoT] to bring into action the order through telecom operators in the country.
On the other hand, the Internet and Mobile Association of India [IAMAI] had requested the central govt to lift the ban on bulk SMS as it causes great revenue loss to telecom operator companies, mainly small and medium enterprises.
