Saina Nehwal Olympics 2012 150x150 London Olympics 2012: Saina Nehwal wins bronze after Xin Wang retires hurtIndia today bagged with third Olympics medal, as ace shuttler Saina Nehwal won bronze medal for the country after Xin Wang retires hurt at the London Olympics 2012.

However, Saina won the medal under unconditional circumstances as her opponent and world number two ranked Xin Wang of China retired hurt due to knee injury.

Saina Nehwal had saved four game points in a fighting match and was 18-20 when Chinese player twisted her knee while trying to hit a smash. Though, she returned to the court soon after wrapping her knee and attacked Saina’s serve and won the game with 1-0.

But, Xin Wang of China was unable to continue the game after winning the first point in the second game. And, Indian player Saina Nehwal won the bronze medal for the country.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal is now the first Indian badminton player to win a medal at the Olympic Games. Earlier, she made her way to the quarterfinals in Beijing Games as well.

Yesterday, Sunil Kumar also won the silver medal for the country in 25m rapid fire pistol event.
