Maruti to start production of Dzire at Gurgaon
The largest car manufacturer company in India, Maruti Suzuki India has recently announced that to accomplish the pending orders of around 65,000 units of the new Dzire cars, the company started manufacturing the vehicles at the Gurgaon plant after the shut down of Manesar plant.
The company statement said that it is still recovering from the impact of workers’ violence in July this year at the Manesar plant, but at the same time the company aims a 10% growth in the overall production this fiscal year.
Talking to media, MSI Chief Operating Officer (Supply Chain) S Maitra said, “Now the Gurgaon plant has also started manufacturing the new Dzire after the lockout at the Manesar plant was lifted.”
He was talking to media at the annual convention of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
He said, “We are doing this because we have a big backlog and a long waiting list. We want to clear it.”
At present, Maruti India needs to produce over 65,000 units in the coming 4-5 months periods to accomplish the pending demand.
Meanwhile, the new Dzire is one of the best selling car models of the company in India. But, the company has been unable to meet the demand after the production stopped at the Manesar plant on July 18 in which MSI’s official was killed and 100 others injured.
Further, MSI Chief Operating Office (Production) M M Singh said, “At present the Manesar plant and the Gurgaon plants were producing 250 units each of the car per day.”
When asked him about the overall production target, he said, “Last year we had a total production of one million units and this year we are looking at 10 per cent more.”
