The melody queen Lata Mangeshkar is today celebrating her 83rd birthday. And, like every year, the entire Bollywood and millions of her fans greets best wishes to the legendary singer.

Meanwhile, the melody queen wants to celebrate her birthday in a very simple way, away from Mumbai.

Lata Mangeshkar had ruled the Bollywood singing for over 70-long years and sung for almost every actress, from Meena Kumari to Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor.

Lata Mangeshkar was born 28 September 1929. Very few people know that Lata Mangeshkar is an occasional music-composer. Lata ji is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India.

Recently, in an interview, Lata Mangeshkar said, “Change is inevitable in this world. The era between 1947 to 1995 in film industry was different. I was part of this era. I don’t relate to the present era and this is natural. I have nothing against it. Everything has changed, the films, the actors and the music.”

When asked to Lata Mangeshkar about her birthday plans, she said, “I don’t believe in birthday celebrations. Like every year, I will be out of the town. I will leave Mumbai a day before my birthday.”

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world. The singer had recorded around 25,000 solo, duet, and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 to 1974.
