Recent reports revealed that German luxury SUV maker giant, Daimler announced to get set for the final assembly SKD (semi-knocked-down) of its Mercedes Benz series line up with M- and GL-Class in India from next coming year, along with other country Thailand and Indonesia.

This final assembling process of the M-Class using SKD kits by German badged will be the first which set outside of its Tuscaloosa, Alabama USA parent plants, will start in India for the local possible market.

The SKD kits which consisting of body and other components of the SUVs, facilitating easy local assembly, are produced in Tuscaloosa and still will come to the final assembly plants for which a new SKD center will have introduced, the company said. Adding that, Engines and transmissions will imported from Stuttgart-Untertürkheim Mercedes’s plant.

“Our new SUV’s are very popular with our customers. We expect high growth rates also in the emerging markets and therefore extend our local production. Thus, we open up new potential as part of our growth strategy,” Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of Daimler AG Mgt. team said while announcing.

In India, there are many Mercedes-Benz’s SUV models that assembled at its Pune plant in Maharashtra such as C, E and S-Class, and as per the company, Mercedes, this assembly of M- GL-Class in India as SKD kits will improves quality and reduce cost by excellent processing system of Daimler.
