The upcoming Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor had missed the court hearing on case for smoking in public. The actor was not present in the court during hearing hours.
Meanwhile, the court has now ordered the actor to present in the court on July 26.
A picture of Ranbir Kapoor smoking in public place in Udaipur hit the web last month while he was in the city to shoot his upcoming film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.
A complaint under CrPC Section 156(3) was registered at a court in Udaipur following which Ranbir Kapoor was sent summons asking him to appear before the court on Tuesday.
Talking to media, Harendra Singh, in-charge of Udaipur’s Ghanta Ghar police station, said, “Ranbir Kapoor has been booked for violation of Section 5 of Rajasthan Prevention of Smoking Act.”
If the charges are proved, the actor may be sentenced to six-month imprisonment or slapped with a penalty of Rs200.
