‘Sri Lanka Army rape Tamils’, India committed to bring justice

Amid Sri Lankan War Crime atrocities, a shocking report revealed the violence of Sri Lanka forces that is still using rape as an instrument for torturing Tamils who are supporters of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

A large number of Tamils men and women who are in custody of Sri Lankan Army have been raped and tortured by soldiers, police and other pro-government paramilitary groups since Sri Lanka’s long-running civil war in May 2009, Human Rights Watch (HRW) report said.

The fresh allegations of Sri Lanka’s wrath against Tamils has raised in India as the AIADMK and the Left parties with a CD of a Channel 4 documentary as evidence on rights violation in Lanka, lashed out the government of not doing anything for the Tamils in Lanka.

Seeking investigation by an independent international body, DMK asked govt to take part with e US resolution in the UN against Sri Lanka, following the killing of late Tamil Tigers, LTTE chief Prabhakaran’s 12-year-old son Balachandran, reports said.

Over UN resolution against Lanka, a United Nations Human Rights Council meeting has to being held in Geneva will examine Sri Lanka’s civil record.

Sources said, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said that there would be no direct interference in Sri Lanka’s sovereign affairs, but the govt was promised to bringing justice to Lankan Tamils.

Despite it, Indian government asked to make accountability for such issues but remained spare over its position at the UN on a resolution against Lanka, reports further added.
