The latest news in the Business field revealed that Bahrain Telecommunications Co (Batelco) has sold its entire holding to its Indian partner Sky City Foundation Ltd.
This decision has come out after the Supreme Court order to cancel 122 licences in 2Gscam.
Batelco, invested $225 million in the Indian venture when they entered the country in January 2009. It has 42.7% stake in the Indian venture and now has decided to sell it to Sky City Foundation Ltd. for $174.5 million and bearing its losses.
The Indian units of Norway’s Telenor ASA (TEL) and Emirates Telecommunications Corp., the United Arab Emirates’ biggest phone company, are also affected by the cancellation of permits. Read more
