Lucknow: Indian politico acts as a dark cave for companies which delivers top level of ‘work-in-progress’. Why? Because if a company is doing well; obviously, it is leaving less chances for the ministers to benefit from switching of “trade-friends”. A befitting situation can well be observed in a case where several companies are trying hard to cope with a SP minister at play – Azam Khan.
Many companies have transformed the condition of many cities by the municipal solid waste management programmes in many states. The working process of these companies has been appreciated by the government of India.
We have been keeping tab on one of such companies which is facing a cold shoulder from the minister. It can be analyzed by the fact that the city of Kanpur, which earlier ranked 390 in terms of pollution, jumped leaps & bounds to hover at 10. A2Z are purely accountable for this tremendous elevation in rankings, for which prime minister awarded the company for its efforts.
But somehow, UP has experienced insincerity in its leaders. They are not monitoring the condition of the state and the need of such organizations. Instead of honest and sincere work, they seem to be looking for tail-wagging dogs that would wage their ways through the anxiety and this in turn, packs the pockets of ministers who have now turned proficient, rather we must say – proficient in bargaining the “deals”.
An inquiry in the data and stats from the past (of Kanpur) reveals that municipal corporations were spending approximately Rs 150 Crore per year to get rid of the solid waste that decorated the city but A2Z emerged as the savior as it undertook the liability at nearly half the price – Rs 80 Crore annually. Other companies too have identically engaged themselves in carrying the burden of other cities.
Talking of A2Z, this is just the case of Kanpur but the company was handling many cities of UP; and instead of giving it a push in other cities, Azam Khan has opined to shut the functioning of A2Z in UP and handover the same to foreign companies, for which he has chosen a team of ministers (delegations) to visit Germany and Dubai to evaluate the working of a German company and a Japanese company (which has setup its plant in Dubai). These are the companies which Azam seeks to consider, to run “waste” operations in Uttar Pradesh.
But before that, let us inform you about the reality of A2Z, and the way UP government has taken its ‘toll’ on it. The municipal corporation, of the cities where the company has setup its plants, has not paid the company, a combined amount of Rs 4,985,767, for the billing period of April-October, during which the company generated 1,011,312 KWH of electricity at a tariff of Rs 4.80/KWH. And according to Azam Khan, he knows none of it. Therefore, either the minister is trying to astray the citizen and party people, or he is trying to reserve benefit from the change of companies.
Why is it that only Uttar Pradesh is facing problem with the company while other states in India have no issues with such enterprises.
The way things are going, it seems as if the Samajwadi Party ministers have no inhibition in notifying that they are edging for ways that will put them in question and also would damage the image of the party.
If such would remain the conduct of SP, they may keep one thing for granted, that public might not want an insensitive government again. So far, the rejoinders that they stuck to the public, have not been sweet anyways, being tasteless may also do, but taking it to a bitter form, can get things out of hand. Also, any major industrialist would think twice before stepping into Uttar Pradesh; clearly, it will not be good for industrial development.
