Now, the latest buzz has that the 67-years-old actress, Sharmila Tagore will be felicitated with an honorary doctorate by the Napier University in Edinburgh on 25 October.
However, the actress left her studies and started her career in acting. Sharmila Tagore must be feeling quite to receive this honour.
Talking to media, Sharmila Tagore said, “This honour means a lot to me since I chose not to educate myself through the conventional route of institution-based learning. It proves one can be self-taught. I dropped out of college before graduation. I opted to begin work as an actress.”
She further told, “This proves that world can be one’s university and if one seeks learning then it will definitely meet them on the course of the journey.”
At the same time, the veteran actress talked about the importance of education in life. She said, “It is essential for emotional and intellectual growth. But it needn’t come from academic textbooks.”
