A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, struck off India-Bangladesh border near Karimganj on wee hours Saturday morning.
As per reports, the quake hit at around 7.01 a.m. Saturday in most parts of the northeast region and neighbouring Bangladesh- Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur are under impact.
No casualties or destruction of property have reported from any part of site, officials said.
The India-Bangladesh border is the epicentre of the quake where tremor occurred, the India Meteorological Department told reporters.
It has been reported that a massive horrible earthquake had triggered at same region measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale in 1897 in which 1,600 people killed.
