Bangla anti Islam Protest 150x150 Bangladesh: Muslims torch Buddhist temples, homes A massive fire erupted in southeastern Bangladesh today when more than thousands angered Bangladeshi Muslims burned 10 Buddhist temples and over 40 homes, following an offensive photo of the Islamic holy book Quran uploaded on Facebook.

Attacking Islam community with derogatory photo on Facebook, a fire of anger rose in Muslims, resulting huge violence destruction and 20 people injuries near the southern border with Myanmar.

“At least 100 houses were damaged. We called in army and border guards to quell the violence,” district administrator Joinul Bari told reporters, adding, “They became unruly and attacked Buddhist houses, torching and damaging their temples from midnight to Sunday morning.”

The situation now under control as tight security arrangement placed and a temporarily ban alarmed on public gatherings in the troubled area for avoidance any violent incident between Muslims and Buddhists.

Muslims claimed that the photo of a burned copy of the Quran was uploaded on Facebook by a local Buddhist boy, while source said, the boy said that the photo was mistakenly tagged on his Facebook profile.

No clarification has been made yet whether the boy posted the photo or not, but his Facebook account has closed and he and his mother kept under police safety.
