BJP President Nitin Gadkari gets I-T summons

As per latest political news, Income Tax department has issued summons for appearance to BJP President Nitin Gadkari. It is said in news that I-T summons were issued in connection with its investigation against BJP President and some associated companies for alleged tax evasion.

Talking to media, seniors from I-T department said that the BJP President has been asked for personal appearance and thus he can be questioned about the documents and probe conducted by the I-T department in past few months.

The I-T official said, “He had sought an adjournement for two weeks citing that he is not present in Nagpur. He has been given the extension and the new date for appearance is January 21.”

Further, he said, “We need to confront him with the probe that we have conducted and verify the facts”

Meanwhile, it was said that the I-T department has been probing many companies that invested in Nitin Gadkari’s Purti Power and Sugar Limited (PPSL) and the group of probing party has issued a report to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in Delhi.

According to close sources, I-T department has found details of around 30 firms that has connections with Nitin Gadkari’s PPSL. On the other hand, the BJP President has said that he has not received any notice from the I-T officials and he has not been asked to appear before any official.

Moreover, there is an income tax case against PPSL from past few months, however, Nitin Gadkari is not involved in the matter. It is said that Nitin Gadkari resigned from the Purti Group sometime back.
