 Italian Marines return to Kochi after celebrating Christmas

According to latest news, the two Italian Marines has returned after celebrating Christmas with their families. The two Italian Marines, Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, were facing murder charges in Kerala, has arrived at Kochi by special charter plane this morning.

The two Italian Marines were allowed to go to their homes for two weeks by the High Court, came by a special flight for Kochi at 7.50 AM.

It is said in news that they will soon leave for Kollam court to surrender their passports.

In the meantime, the two were arrested on February 19, 2011 for killing two Indian fishermen – Ajesh Binki (25) and Jelestine (45) from onboard merchant vessel ‘Enrica Lexie’ off Alapuzha coast, ‘mistaking’ them for Somali pirates.

Tough condition had been occurred and the High Court ordered them to return by January 10. The Kollam court had asked to present in the trial on January 15.

The Italian Marines had also executed Rs 6 crore bank guarantee as directed by the Kerala High Court for allowing them to leave for two weeks.

However, the Kerala Govt had opposed the Italians plea in the High Court and said that it was a hoax to “smuggle them out” and would “torpedo” the ongoing trial.
