Live: 25 labourers killed in accident in Bihar

News from Bihar states that around 25 labourers were killed, including 11 children and other 10 were injured when a speeding truck lost its control and fell into roadside ditch near Titai Bigha in Aurangabad district in Bihar in the early hours on Thursday.

Briefing information to media, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Praveen Kumar Parai said that from the accident location, injured people said that the driver was drunk and he along with his assistant fled from the spot.

It is said that around 35 people were in the truck at the time of accident. Ten injured people were admitted to Sadar hospital.

Further, Superintendent of Police Daljeet Singh said, “The truck overturned on National Highway 139 before rolling into a roadside ditch.”

Mr. Singh said, “The labourers, who had come to Aurangabad for harvesting crops, were returning to their native Lesiganj village in Daltonganj district bordering Jharkhand.”

Meanwhile, the State Cooperative Minister Ramadhar Singh, who is a BJP legislator from Aurangabad district, condoled the death of 25 labourers and even announced that the Bihar government would provide Rs. 50,000 each as compensation to the families of the deceased.
