Twist in release of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh from the Pakistan jail has happened when Islamabad govt. suddenly changed its move, freed another Surjeet Singh in place of him.
Turning point came just few hours after announcing yesterday that Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had reduced judicial sentence of the death for Sarabjit Singh and freed him.
As the report emerged, the presidential authorities told media persons that it’s not him, but another Indian prisoner Surjeet for him authorities has taken step to freed as per Pakistan‘s Law Minister’s direction as he has completed his life term.
Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar who emerged much shocking and harassment confirmation was the same that clarified Sarabjit’s release, as source said.
“I think there is some confusion. First, it is not a case of pardon. More importantly, it is not Sarabjit. It is Surjeet Singh, son of Sucha Singh. His death sentence was commuted in 1989 by President (Ghulam) Ishaq (Khan) on the advice of (then premier) Benazir Bhutto,” Babar told reporters while clarifying the confusion.
From 1990, past 22 years long time period, Sarabjit Singh has been in jail in charge of having involvement in the 1990 serial blasts case. The court had given him death sentence, but last month considering Sarabjit’s fifth mercy plea, Zardari had reduced his death sentence to life, reports suggested.
Sarabjit’s release that has cancelled by Pakistan, came as a major faux pas to Sarabjit’s family who were the fight for his release and in hopes after recent a media report of his release that Sarabjit would be now free.
Being much disappointed from this major twist and Paksitan’s faux pas, Sarabjit’s daughter told reporters, “The faux pas has played with our emotions. We were really shocked when we heard that Surjeet and not Sarabjit was being released. We hope the Pakistani Government would not have done this, but I still hope that my father will be released soon.”
This big cruel trick that happened by Pakistan has given one family shocking and much disappointing moment and other celebration. Surjeet Singh, also in the same prison as Sarabjit for three decades, now would free and as this news came, a joy and celebration move came in his family.
