ISD Facility 150x150 Prepaid mobile users may lose ISD facilityAccording to latest news, the telecom regulatory TRAI has recently asked telecom firms to deactivate ISD calling facility from prepaid mobile number and restore it only if the user gives explicit consent to activate the service.

In a statement issued by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), it said, “Inform all pre-paid subscribers having ISD facility, through SMS, within 10 days of the date of issue of this direction, that ISD facility of the subscribers shall be discontinued after sixty days.”

Further, it said, “If such subscribers want to continue with ISD facility, they should give their explicit consent for availing such facility within 60 days of the receipt of the SMS.”

It is said in reports that TRAI has issued such notice after the complaints from customers about missed calls from unknown international numbers, and some users receive SMSes that they have won huge prize or lottery money.

In its statement, TRAI said, “These numbers are international numbers, which are often premium numbers charging higher tariffs. By responding to such calls/SMS the consumers have to pay unintended charges.”

It is also said by TRAI that all the telecom firms should inform prepaid users by SMS, within 10 days about the issue, that prepaid mobile users need not to respond such missed calls or SMSes.

TRAi said that telecom firm should send SMSes to its users every six months and provide them helps for activations or deactivation of ISD facility.
