Cabinet begins 2G telecom spectrum auction today

Today will be the starting of bidding auction of 2G spectrum as the Cabinet is going to gain Rs.40,000 crore from auction for telecom spectrum get relief from cancellation of 122 telecom licences by the Supreme Court in February.

The bidding process belongs to major 8 companies-Uninor, Loop Telecom, Sistema Shyam, Idea Cellular including Spice Communications, Videocon, Etisalat DB formerly Swan Telecom , S-Tel and Tata Teleservices,  is reported to be started today. Read more

SMS Limit 150x150 Now just 100 SMSes per day per SIM: TRAIBeing forced to take step to resolve the menace of pesky spam messages, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has restricted a limit of 100 SMS in a day per SIM which will be at concessional rates.

Without affecting the ordinary phone users, TRAI ensured to set limit much beyond average person daily requirement which will help to stop unregistered telemarketers to send spam messages to users. Read more

Prepaid mobile users may lose ISD facility

ISD Facility 150x150 Prepaid mobile users may lose ISD facilityAccording to latest news, the telecom regulatory TRAI has recently asked telecom firms to deactivate ISD calling facility from prepaid mobile number and restore it only if the user gives explicit consent to activate the service.

In a statement issued by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), it said, “Inform all pre-paid subscribers having ISD facility, through SMS, within 10 days of the date of issue of this direction, that ISD facility of the subscribers shall be discontinued after sixty days.” Read more

It is announced by the telecom operators that bulk SMSes is only applicable on prepaid customers.

Most of the telecom operators have prepaid customer, the limit on sending SMSes had disturbed the normal life of them. Talking to media, a prepaid user said, “We play football every Sunday and usually co-ordinate through messages on Saturday night. I had to call 25 people and inform them of the schedule personally.” Read more
