Spectrum Auction for 2G: enters ninth round on demand in Bihar

The 2G spectrum auction which has worst return in its bidding way, now entered in the  ninth round on Wednesday due to strongest demand for spectrum in Bihar telecom circle.

Reacting of DoT over this move is affirmative as under the second-generation (2G) spectrum, the government is selling eight blocks of 1.25Mhz airwaves frequencies in each of the 22 licence circles. Read more

Cabinet begins 2G telecom spectrum auction today

Today will be the starting of bidding auction of 2G spectrum as the Cabinet is going to gain Rs.40,000 crore from auction for telecom spectrum get relief from cancellation of 122 telecom licences by the Supreme Court in February.

The bidding process belongs to major 8 companies-Uninor, Loop Telecom, Sistema Shyam, Idea Cellular including Spice Communications, Videocon, Etisalat DB formerly Swan Telecom , S-Tel and Tata Teleservices,  is reported to be started today. Read more

2G spectrum 150x150 Cabinet clears one time spectrum feeThe Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has today permits the grant of the Empowered Group of Ministers’ decision of one-time spectrum fee for all existing telecom companies.

Now as per recommendations of the Empowered Group of Ministers, all the mobile operators may have to pay one time spectrum charge which will be only for GSM operators, not CDMA as no bidders for CDMA auction is available. Read more
