President poll: Mamata Banerjee hurt by Kalam’s decision, says graft eroding public trust

Sudden withdraw of Former President APJ Abdul Kalam from the Presidential race on Monday has deeply disappointed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as leaving no option of run out from nomination.

Mamata was strongly in favour of Kalam after Samajwadi Party chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav denied to back against Pranab.

Being hurt by Kalam not contesting the 19 July presidential poll, source said, she posted on Facebook, “Kalam Saheb, you have touched our hearts and our spirit. I have seen your statement that you are not contesting. This news has hurt all of us deeply. You were a People’s President and bridged the gap between high office and common people.”

As per Banerjee, Political reforms are under serious stress in form of the public trust that slowly downed due to the corruption.

“There is a lack of faith of the common people in political entities. Some self-seeking politicians have discarded all ethics. The people of my country will rise to cleanse Indian politics and bring back honesty, values and ethics,” Trinamool Congress supremo said on Facebook.

Taking U turn, Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandhopadhyaya announced to be with UPA as realized threat of party. He told reporters, “We are with the government but can resign when the time comes.”

He also dismissed resignation reports of his party ministers that they were submitting to Chief Mamata Banerjee, but threatened that their ministers were ready to quit their posts if they were unwanted, as per media reports.

After dismissing the PA Sangma’s candidature, Kalam was the only opt of the Trinamool Congress supreme that has also left her alone. There is only one option for her that whether take favor of the NDA or voting.
