Samsung aims to triple the sales of tablets in the country, around 1.5 million in 2012. the statement was said by Ranjit Yadav, company’s India head for IT and mobile division.

Ranjit Yadav was talking to media at the launch of Samsung’s flagship tablet ‘Galaxy Note 800’.

Mr. Yadav said, “India is one of the first 10 markets in the world where the Galaxy Note 800 is being launched.”

The new Galaxy Note 800 will compete in the country with iPad 3 and the price of the new Galaxy Note 800 will be Rs 39,990.

In the international market, Apple’s tablet has been considered as the best seller, but the situation in India is different. The low cost of Samsung tablets as compared to Apple tablets had helped to increase the sale of Samsung tablets in the country.

As per GfK, a research company, Samsung had around 55 percent share in the Indian tablet market in the second quarter of 2012.

High number of apps and lower cost as compared to Apple’s tablet had helped Samsung tablet better market in India.

The stylus, called S Pen, is the most important part of Galaxy Note 800 experience and along with other apps, allows users to create elaborate notes or illustrations.

The new Galaxy Note 800 features a unique multi-tasking mode that permits customers to split the screen and use two apps simultaneously.
