Withdrawal form UPA over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, indicated a widening split in the DMK as party chief M Karunanidhi’s son and former Union Minister MK Alagiri has skipped a crucial meet of the party today.
As per media reports, Alagiri is much disappointed with younger brother MK Stalin for supporting Karunanidhi to pull out of UPA, quit to support after India voted against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC in Geneva.
Alagiri has already submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister separately, complaining his party not consulting with him over UPA’s quitting matter.
Meanwhile, today DMK high command is being met in Chennai to decide futuristic course of action against the Centre for not taking a strong stand over Sri Lankan War Crimes includes passing a stern resolution against Center.
It has been said that 12 to 15 resolutions are likely to pass in the meeting, but Alagiri who skipped meeting has left for his constituency Madurai, reports said.
There has a much opposition from Alagiri to his father and party chief M Karunanidhi to whom he met over quitting the Congress government at the centre.
Moreover, beside Algiri, there are some other ministers SS Palanimanickam, S Gandhiselvan, S Jagathrakshakan and D Nepoleon had submitted their resignations to PM.
