Sundar Pichai, IIT Kharagpur Topper, becomes the new head of Google Android

Being emphasized the tech development in India, Indian-origin Sundar Pichai, an IIT-Kharagpur topper has now become the new head of Google’s Android division.

“Going forward, Sundar Pichai will lead Android, in addition to his existing work with Chrome and Apps,” company CEO Larry page told reporters.

Puchai became one of the most powerful executives at the Internet giant, head of Google’s Chrome and Android, reports said.

He replaces Andy Rubin who was the man to take Google’s Android division to new heights, led to the Google’s Android OS for smartphones and tablet computers.

The company expected that Sundar would do a tremendous job on Android to push the ecosystem forward by offering excellent tech products easy to use in which he is the master.

The 40-year old Pichai, the master of innovative talent, joined Google in 2004 led the product management and innovation efforts for Google Chrome and Chrome Operating System. He also led to the development of Google Drive, Gmail and Maps.

It is not wrong if we say that Pichai’s entry in Android will move the platform towards a unifying computing solution – excellent products of mixture with Chrome OS and Android.

Pichai, born in Tamil Nadu, graduated in metallurgical and materials engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1993 and got a Masters in business administration from the Wharton School of Business.
