Fishermen’s Killing Case: No out-of-court settlement, Indian Officials
Major steps has been taking over the case of two Italian naval guards held in Kochi for killing two Indian fishermen, resolving diplomatic row between India and Italy authorities.
On Tuesday, the Kerala High Court asked for an out of court settlement to the owner of Italian Merchant Vessel Enrica Lexie and the families of the two slain fishermen for determining the compensation.
The appeal for a compensation of Rs 1 crore, had sought by Doramma wife of Valentine Jalastine, while the sisters of another fishermen had demanded for Rs 2 crore reliefs. Read more
Indian Fisherman Death: Italy minister to arrive in Delhi
Today the case of killed two Indian fishermen turns to be political issue after Italy authorities arrested of two Italian marines of ship “Enrica Lexie” who shot two fishermen from Kerala at sea on Sunday.
And this is criticized by Indian police because under Act of Indian Penal code, they were already filed FIR against both marines, on the basis of that incident had happened in Indian terrestrial water.
It is really against Indian law and today in form of further action against Italy, the Indian police will move the Kerala High Court today seeking quashing of the FIR against the marines.
However seeing the signs of diplomatic crisis, now Italian authorities are taking this diplomatic crossfire seriously as a result Italy’s deputy Foreign Minister will arrive in Delhi today to hold meetings with officials of the External Affairs Ministry. Read more
Indian Fishermen Case: Shut out, Italy coats at Marines’ arrest
Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone are two marines whom security detachment assigned to protect the merchant vessel Enrica Lexie from pirate attacks in the Indian Ocean.
Now they have been arrested by Italian Police force yesterday under the allegations of killing two Indian fishermen. As per report, the Marines have remanded in Kochi police custody for three days.
But Indian police has criticized Italian authority’s action to arrest the soldiers as against Indian Penal Law because as per them the firing happened in Indian territorial waters. Read more
