Rio has been named as the host city of the Laureus World Sports Awards for 2013 and 2014, the Laureus Academy announced.
The globally televised event, considered the Oscars of international sports, will give Rio the chance to showcase itself to the sporting world ahead of the 2014 football World Cup and 2016 Olympics, reports Xinhua.

Brazil coach Mano Menezes has ruled out making major changes to his team for Monday’s international friendly against China in Recife city.

FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke inaugurated the world body’s regional developmental office at Dwarka in the national capital here Thursday.
The regional office has been shifted to Delhi from Colombo.
“It’s really pleasing to see our endeavour taking shape in India. The developmental office being located here reflects our intention to develop football from the grassroots in this country. development offices are an integral part of FIFA as it builds the grassroots,” said Valcke. Read more
