Tamil Actor Kamal Haasan moves Competition Commission on Vishwaroopam

The Tamil actor Kamal Haasan has now moved a fair trade regulator Competition Commission of India [CCI] against some theater associations for allegedly restricting the release of his high budget film Vishwaroopam.

Earlier, the same complaint was raised by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn during the release of his film ‘Son of Sardar’., with the Competition Commission of India.

Talking to media, CCI official said, “We have received a complaint from Kamal Haasan (related to Vishwaroopam)”

The CCI official added that the complaint was filed this week by the actor against some theatre associations for allegedly restricting the release of the film.

CCI official said, “We are likely to take a call on the issue next week.”

No immediate response was given by Kamal Haasan on this.

Earlier, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam was expected to release on DTH on January 10, however, the DTH release was postponed and now the film will release on January 25 in 500 screens across Tamil Nadu.

In November last year, CCI had rejected Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn’s complaint against Yash Raj Films (YRF) for alleged abuse of dominant position in Hindi film industry, as the regulator did not any violations of competition norms.

News have said that Ajay Devgn Films Pvt Ltd had alleged that Yash Raj Films was using its dominant position to ask exhibitors to dedicate more screens to its upcoming release, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, than for release of his film Son of Sardaar on November 13.
