Total electricity break-down for 19 states, 600 million people affected

Power supply in the northern part of the country was once again hit with 19 states and more than 600 million Indians faced electricity break-down this afternoon. The major power collapse took place after three grids that supply power tripped in quick period of time.

However, till 4pm, electricity supply was restored to 50 percent of the North East India including big part of Delhi. Reports have said that by 7:30 pm the crisis will be resolved.

The Delhi metro train also stopped running for over an hour, and later reached to the nearest stations after emergency supply given.

Further, today’s massive break-down was one of world’s largest, it happened just few hours after India recovered from yesterday’s power supply collapse

While talking to media, Mr Shinde said, “I have told states using more power than they are meant to stop it. They shall be punished.” Yesterday, four states face power outage were Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and UP.

Northern part of the country faced huge power blackout, and once again it happen today, which shows India’s abysmal infrastructure and its inability to satiate the needs of a growing population and industry.

The states hit today were: Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, J&K, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, UP, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and the seven North Eastern states.
