US Hillary Clinton 150x150 US will Ease Myanmar Import Ban: Hillary ClintonIn a move to kick start reforms in Burma, today US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced to ease a long anticipated key import ban on goods from Burma into the United States, seeking to hold tightly its continuous loosing sanctions against Myanmar since past 18 months.

The suspension of investment ban has announced at the United Nations General Assembly where Mrs. Clinton met with Burma President Thein Sein and both countries decided to shake hands over reforms issue and establishing a multi-party system with well and market economy.

“In recognition of the continued progress toward reform and in response to requests from both the government and the opposition, the United States is taking the next step in normalizing our commercial relationship,” Clinton said at meeting.

It would push Burma from the former military state to an Asian market, resolving series of political as well as economical threats with US’s financial as well as political help offers.

Meanwhile, now Mynmmar where democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi who visiting the US of the United Nations summit, awarding the US Congressional Gold Medal expressed support for the step, while opposition leaders against.

“We are very grateful for the actions of the United States,” Thein Sein thanked US, accepting the decision with a threat of opposition within Burma’s military.
