India’s largest mobile operator, Bharti Airtel announced the appointment of Sunil Bharti Mittal as the Executive Chairman of the company.
Taking a major reshuffle on the top level management, Bharti Airtel called a meeting on Board of Directors on February 1 and after that changes had come in effect.
The move seeks to come as an attempt to keep on track for improving profitability in both 3G and 4G service.
Bharti Airtel’s founder Sunil Mittal was posted in company as Chairman & Managing Director.
As per sources, Manoj Kohli who was performing current role as CEO for Airtel’s International operations is now headed as New Managing Director of the company, while Gopal Vittal, the new CEO of its India business, has been appointed as the Additional Director and Joint Managing Director.
Bharti Airtel’s development decision came after the resignation of Sanjay Kapoor, the CEO of company’s India & South Asia operations.
Mr. Kapoor would continue his role with the Board of Indus Towers Ltd and Bharti Global Ltd and accompany Mr. Vittal on major matters of India business until March 31, 2013.
While Company’s South Asian business which includes Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will follow under Manoj Kohli from March 1, 2013.
