The Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, whois riding high with success of his latest released film ‘Special 26’, has said that he would love remake the film for regional cinema.
Talking to reporters, the actor said, “I would love to remake it. But I haven’t thought of it yet. If I get a good director I would love to remake it.”
The film ‘Special 26, is directed by Neeraj Panday and lead roles were played by Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpai, and was released allover on February 9.
Akshay Kumar has two production houses, Hari Om Entertainment and Grazing Goats.and, now he is planning to remake the film in Punjabi and Marathi language.
Filmmaker Neeraj Panday said, “Since Friday evening I have been receiving calls for remaking the film. People have been asking for remake rights. I have been receiving queries but can’t talk about them.”
He added, “These are decisions that need to be taken at a different level. We need to consult… do it at the right time.”
Moreover, the film ‘Special 26’ is inspired by a real life incident took place in late 80s, where some unknown people posing as CBI officials executed a daylight income tax raid and decamped with jewellery worth lakhs.
Akshay Kumar said, “There is a huge difference when someone hands me a script and says ‘Read it, let me know what do you think?’, to coming back to me after a polite refusal a few years later with the narrators of the screenplay, and having it read to me with the passion of Robin Hood & the Prince of Thieves.”
The film has so far earned Rs 26 crore in the first week of its release.
