The Australia captain Michael Clarke has won the toss and elected to bat first, though his Sri Lankan counter-part Mahela Jayawardene also said that he would also like to bat first if wins the toss.

It was really a very interesting match, Australia started their batting with positive note, as both the openers played their role perfectly. Opener David Warner hits a superb 163 runs knock on just 157 balls with 13 fours and 2 huge sixes.

David Warner also hits 64 runs important knock with 4 fours and one six.

Batting first the home side made 321 runs in their limited 50 overs play. The target was huge but Sri Lankan have comeback strongly. Australia won the match by just 15 runs, as Sri Lanka was bowled out on 306 runs in 49.2 overs.

After winning the match, Australia skipper said, “They continue not to quit unfortunately, they are very well-skilled. But (David) Warner and (Matthew Wade were outstanding at the top,” Clarke said after the match. “I’m pleased we won the game, but we’ve got some work to do tomorrow.”

He said, “I was looking for an early night (finish)…and kept thinking that I can’t lose from that position. But powerplay and death overs (bowling) have been an issue with us throughout and unfortunately, it again was the case today.”

However, the Sri Lankan captain said, “We’ve been playing some really good cricket, we fought till the end. It’s a good attitude to have. It was an incredible partnership.”

He said, “Kula (Nuwan Kulasekara) did very well, lots of positives for us to take from this. When Upul (Tharanga) got out, that probably put us back a bit. If there was a batsman left till the end, who knows?”

David Warner was named as the man of the match. He said, “I was just a little worried about the cramps at the other end, I was getting some treatment. I couldn’t move sideways so we’re going to do a fitness test on the day of the game. It’s good to get across the line, we are now 1-0 up.”
