The opening match of the ICC World Twenty20 was played between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe Played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota.
Sri Lanka won the match by 82 runs but the day was made special by Ajantha Mendis, who created history for his team by taking six wickets for just 8 runs in 4 overs.

The pitch hitter Virender Sehwag on Friday announced that he will no longer lead the Delhi Daredevils cricket team and therefore Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene will be the new captain of the team for the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 starting from October 9 in South Africa.
Talking to media, Delhi Daredevils owner TA Sekar said that Virender Sehwag requested the management to leave the captaincy for the Champions League Twenty20. Read more
