In yet, Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma bowed a huge controversy on Monday slamming Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to have links with terrorists.
The comment of Verma stated at a function in Gonda, Verma’s parliamentary constituency, following those angry SP supporters took to streets for protest in Lucknow, Azamgarh, torched an effigy of the minister.
However, in the Lok Sabha, Verma also alleged that after 2002 riots, SP contested in Gujarat Assembly elections with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It helped Gujarat CM Narendra Modi come to power.
Demanding dismissal of Mr.Verma, SP supporters threatened to stop the entry of the Steel Minister into his constituency.
“Who is Mulayam to ask for my removal? Has he made me the minister? He should apologise, for he has betrayed the nation,” Beni said in Lok Sabha, source said.
“For me, terrorism has no religion, no colour. The demolition of Nanri Masjid and the post-Godhra riots are also terrorist incidents… he (Mulayam) joined hands with those who demolished Babri Masjid, like Kalyan Singh. His party also helped BJP win in Gujarat,” the minister said.
