Facebook removes Pak TTP page

Facebook page that was set up by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as “a recruitment centre” to recruit enthusiasts for its propaganda has been removed by social networking site.

The Umar Media TTP page that asks people to submit content on any articles topic, may be on jihadi current affairs, Islam movements or the plight of Muslims had more than 270 likes, according to reports and indicated to be created in September.

“Umar Media is proud to announce online job opportunities. Job description is video editing, translations, sharing, uploading, downloading and collection of required data,” TTP said in the first post on Facebook, on October 25.

Reports further added that TTP page described the recruitment for itself for its own website and also said that Umar Media is its official media arm, TTP has taken to Facebook to recruit contributors for their media work and forthcoming publication ‘Ayah-E-Khilafat’ (Sign of the Caliphate).

Interestingly, TTP anticipated the removal of its page by Facebook and for that it provided an email address and asked readers to “plz spread it” as this facebook account may be deleted.
