Gujarat Assembly Elections 2012: Irfan Pathan in support of Narendra Modi

The star cricket from the Indian cricket team Irfan Pathan on Wednesday shared the stage with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the campaign rally of BJP to attract voters for the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2012.

During the second phase elections in Gujarat, Irfan Pathan was seen standing along with Narendra Modi.

The all-rounder from Team India belongs to Vadodara and currently not playing for team India due to an injury, waved his hands to supporters, who had come to listen Modi’s speech.

The Gujarat Chief Minister had launched ‘Sadbhavana Mission’ for peace and amity and to appease minority community voters in September 2011.

Though, BJP has not named any of the candidates from the minority community for the assembly elections in 2012. Central Gujarat comprises the tribal and minority dominated belt of Panchmahal and Dahod and the Patel-dominated belt of Kheda, Anand and Vadodara.

Meanwhile, the first phase of assembly elections in the state are scheduled for Thursday, 13 December, while second phase elections will be on December 17 and the result will be announced on December 20.
